I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my last blog post! Quite honestly, it feels like it’s been a lot longer than that and although I didn’t intend on taking time out from blogging, i’m glad I did. It’s exam season and honestly, its been hectic and tiring, and the last thing I wanted to do was put out a blog post because I had to and not because I wanted to, but you will always be able to find me on my Instagram and Twitter. I’ve now had so much time to think about the direction I want to take my blog and feel so inspired.
My first post back is going to a review on the Laura Geller highlighter in ‘Gilded Honey’. This highlighter has been everywhere; it’s definitely been a cult blogger/youtuber favorite, and so many of you asked for a review of this when I posted this on Instagram. This is my first Laura Geller product and can I just say that they have the cutest packaging. When I took out the product from the packaging I was a little surprised by the size of the highlighter. It was just so small, and I believe it has 4.5g of product which isn’t unusual, but my Mary Lou Manizer holds twice the product and is slightly cheaper.
The actual look of the product itself is absolutely gorgeous. It is a beautiful golden/bronze swirl to it which is perfect for any skin tone, so it’s easy to see why this product captured so much attention. However, in my opinion, it is quite dry and not as buttery as some of the other highlighters that I’ve used. This may be good for people with more oily complexions, and even though I tend to suffer from oily skin in my t zone area, my cheeks sometimes get dry/dehydrated, so doesn’t really sit that well on my skin. It does however have a much better finish on my skin when I spray my Urban Decay All Nighter Setting spray on the brush after picking up the product as it makes it look more dewy, which is the look that I want to achieve when I apply any highlighter.
Overall, in terms of my collection of highlights, it isn’t my favourite as for the price, I don’t think it gives the natural dewy glow that I would like it to give. This is a shame as the colour of it is absolutely gorgeous and it makes a change to the more champagne colored highlighters that are more common.
If you have tried this highlighter I’d love know your thoughts
