How to be an Overnight Success is a book written by Maria Hatzistefanis. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, the brands Rodial and Nip & Fab might, and Maria is the woman behind them. Admittedly, the thing that drew me to the book was the totally instagramable front cover, but it is packed with tips that Maria picked up on her journey of building a business in an admirably honest way. In this post, I thought I’d share the most important lessons that really were apparent in the book.
Lesson #1 Working hard means sacrificing other areas of your life; it’s simply a question of how much you are willing to sacrifice for success. There are no shortcuts.
I think all of us can relate to this one, ever feel like one area of your life is suffering? No matter how much I want to sit down and write a blog post, sometimes it’s just not possible. I know when I get busy my blogging suffers the most, and it’s although it pains me to say this, I have other priorities. Does that mean I don’t care about blogging and that I don’t want to do well at it? Absolutely not. It just means that I’m very aware that you have to work hard to succeed and if I’m not succeeding in a certain aspect of my life, I’m not trying hard enough.
Lesson #2 Success is about the relentless pursuit of what you want
It’s not always about just knowing what you want but having patience to get there. Sometimes I can be very impatient when it comes to achieving my goals but if feels pretty darn good when I get there.
Lesson #3 It’s all about perspective
I’m really trying to turn any negatives in to positives by changing the way I look at it; perspective. Sometimes it helps me to just take a step back from what i’m doing and just approach the situation differently.
Lesson #4 How to be an Overnight Success
You can’t. It’s safe to say “”How to be an Overnight Success” is just a play on words as Maria makes it clear that it took a lot of hard work and dedication for her brands to become an overnight success.
