Over the past couple of months, i’ve gotten into the habit of mixing foundations that I’ve collected over time. I’ve been creating my own formula and shade, but as you can imagine the results aren’t always consistent.
The Ordinary Coverage Foundation is a product I’ve been keen to try for a while. The foundation comes with a pump in a tiny travel friendly bottle, containing the standard 30ml of product. The Ordinary website has quite a comprehensive guide for shade matching and so based on this I picked the shade 2.1Y Medium. This turned out to be my perfect match both in shade and undertone. Although I think The Ordinary have done well with catering to different undertones, I do think that the gradient for the medium/deep skin tones could be improved.
The foundation is a medium to full coverage foundation with a matte finish. I tend to go with more lightweight, luminous foundations so I didn’t love the foundation to begin with. However, I do think that the foundation looks better as the day goes on. Additionally, the foundation last all day which is such an important point for me. The lasting power of this foundation means that it also holds blush and bronzer well and they do not fade during the day.
Overall, for £6 this foundation is so worth having in your make up collection. My problems with this foundation are mostly to do with my personal preference as opposed to the actual foundation itself. It does last all day, provide good coverage and evens out the skin tone. To balance out the mattifying look of the foundation, I use a hydrating and illuminating primer and also lean towards cream based products for my blush, bronzer and highlighter.
