Although I’m not a fan of the colder weather, one of the things that makes me excited about Autumn is the make up trends. I love a warmed toned make up looks, using lots of browns and cranberry shades on the eyes, but I especially love a bold vampy lip. Over the Summer I shyed away from bold lip colours and gone for more neutral/nude colours, but I’ve pulled out some old favourites and discovered some new lipsticks that I’ve been loving, and the ones that I’m reaching for the most this season.
Melted Fig is a purple lipstick with pink undertones which comes from Too Faced’s long liquid long wear lipstick range. Althought long wear lipsticks are generally associated with having a matte finish, this lipstick has a slight satiny sheen to it, making it really comfortable to wear on the lips. It comes in a squeezy tube that has an applicator which you can apply straight onto the lips, making it quite easy to apply.
This lipstick is a taupe/brown colour with grey cool undertones. I must say i was really impressed with this lipstick. It’s a matte lipstick but it honestly has the most creamy hydrating formula. The original reason I brought this lipstick is because I heard that it was a dupe for MAC Stone. In my opinion this is a better formula than MAC’s matte lipsticks and half the price!
You might have noticed that this is the only matte liquid lipstick that has made it in to my top 5. As the colder weather sets in, my lips tend to get a bit drier, and liquid lipsticks end up cracking on my lips. The thing I loved about colourpop liquid lipsticks is that they are so comfortable to wear. I also think this colour is the perfect vampy red which I love wearing around this time of year. I’ve done a full review of my thoughts on the Colourpop liquid lipstick range here. Since I posted my review, colourpop has started shipping to the UK, but there is an alternative UK website that I’ve mentioned in my post that stocks Colourpop if you would prefer.
This MAC lipstick has been in my collection for absolutely ages. It’s a deep plum colour with a satin finish. I’ll admit that it’s a little bit “out there”, even for me. But it looks gorgeous with a night time smokey eye. You will need a lip liner to go with this and I recommend MAC currant which goes with it perfectly.
This lipstick has recently made its way into my collection and I’m absolutely obsessed. This lipstick is part of the Seventeen Mega Matte lipstick range. Despite the fact that it is a “matte” lipstick it is a really comfortable lipstick and for a matte lipstick, it’s quite creamy and glides on smoothly. I always think the true test of how long a lipstick lasts when I eat and drink because I hate having to reapply after, and it literally didn’t budge. This shade is the type of shade that I would class as a “classic” red and it just shouts Christmas to me and makes me feel festive.
What are your favourite lipsticks for autumn?
